Cannot convert protocol 'tcp', Error #11004

Some times,the direct internet connection having computers face these errors,Internet works fine but escan do not updates.

You can locate the same error code in C:\Program files\escan\log\download.log file.


Usually this error (#11004) is caused by missing or corrupted operating system files ,'services' and 'protocol' on your system

C:\<WINDOWS>\system32\drivers\etc\

In most cases, a third-party program has renamed these 2 files:

'services' -> 'services.dat'
'protocol' -> 'protocol.dat'

Or might have deleted.
and as a result many other programs like Wise-FTP cannot convert string 'ftp' into a default port number.

To fix this problem we will suggest :

1) Rename the above files in C:\<WINDOWS>\system32\drivers\etc\ back:

'services.dat' -> 'services'
'protocol.dat' -> 'protocolt'

These files must have NO extensions!

It resolved issue in two places where there where no file inside ETc folder i copied it from my xp and it started downloading....
