I lost the path to use files .exe. Can be a virus?

Postby cmora » Tue May 26, 2009 8:56 pm

Hi.

escan version: eScan AV 9.0.779.409

This morning we detect a delicate issue in a 2003 server STD.

I cant access to any .exe file. all show problems looking for the app to use that file.

i cant run the MWAV in normal mode or in safe mode or any program, including the CMD.exe. I cant access to the sucess viewer too.

What another check can i do to found the problem?

thanks in advance

We suspect it could possibly be infected by a file virus..

What error is thrown on running mwav or any exe file?

If the infection is severe and there is no way you could run the AV, you could connect the hard drive of this machine as a slave to a clean machine and scan it. Make sure you don't run any file from this drive on the clean machine.

We can run any program because appear an error related with run32dll.

That server was formatted because cant be stopped.

This is a delicated issue because the infected was the Domain controler. that server is keeping update in all the fixes.

I was detect a lot incidents related with a bkcln.unknown virus, but the mwti support say to that virus is not dangerous. Is hard explain that to the customer, if was needed format the server

bye
